Psalm 46 in Pictures

Psalm 46 in Pictures

Scriptures that paint a picture in my mind cause me to open my Bible and read them again and again. Therefore, I love Psalm 46. Every verse is a picture.

My heart soars when I get to verse 4 where we experience an abrupt and amazingly comforting shift in location and mood. It’s like a favorite scene in a movie that I’ve seen many times, but when I see it again, it still surprises and entertains. But that movie experience pales in comparison to what happens in my heart when I get to verse 4 in Psalm 46. And that’s not all folks, we get the same type of experience again in verse 10!

Psalm 46 is a roller coaster ride through painterly poetry!

It’s a wonderful Psalm to run to when you’re discouraged or fearful or just in need of rest. There’s been a lot of alarming and scary stuff in the news lately. This whole Psalm puts all of that in perspective.

Whatever you are experiencing right now, I pray this Psalm will remind you of God’s love and protection, for God is the Blessed Controller of All Things!

And so, here is Psalm 46 in pictures.

  2. You know that first and last picture is Masada! Do you know what happened there? When you know what happened your use of His Word brings tears to my eyes.

  3. Rosemary,

Your artistic gift is absolutely stunning! I haven’t disagreed with you yet! Thank you so much for taking The Loft’s challenge and sharing it with us.

    • Thank you very much, Rachelle. My motivation was the hope of blessing other people, so if that’s what happened to you when you read–and looked at–this, then the time that I spent on it was more than worth it! Thank you for visiting and for leaving such an encouraging comment.

  4. Oh my word! That was stunning! The pictures were perfectly chosen…and the ones of Masada gave me chills. After the events of this week in America, Psalm 46:10 takes on new and deeper meaning. Thank you, Rosemary, for posting this at The Loft. It was such a blessing to me.

    • I am happy that you found a blessing here! The process of preparing each picture caused me to think about and meditate on the details of each verse. I’m pretty sure that “the events of this week in America” would have hit me a lot harder had I not had this Psalm 46 experience. God’s living word has a way of getting our hearts and minds in the right place regardless of what’s going on around us!

  5. Beautiful, we often quote Psalm 46:10 and yet forget or perhaps do not give the other verses the attention we should. We must remember God is our refuge and HE will be exalted!!

  6. Loved this. Thanks for sharing.
